Rent a terminal server: operations and licences from one provider
You rent Windows terminal servers with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services from us, operated in our own data centre in Hallstadt near Bamberg, Germany. We take care of updates, security patches, monitoring and backup. You or your IT service provider look after your applications. The pricing is transparent: a fixed price per terminal server, one Remote Desktop licence per user and backup storage based on usage.

What you get with a rented terminal server
A terminal server provides Windows applications to several users at the same time. Each person works in their own session, and applications and data stay on the server. At centron, the terminal servers run as virtual machines in our ccloud³, and we handle operations with Premium Full Managing.

Who creates users, assigns permissions and sets up printers is agreed with you or your IT service provider during the assessment.
How much does a terminal server cost?
You pay a fixed monthly price per terminal server and one Remote Desktop licence per user. Servers and users are billed separately: when employees join, at first only the number of user licences goes up. An additional terminal server is only added when the load requires it.

With a quota, you commit to a fixed amount of computing power and storage for 12, 24 or 36 months and get a discount of 10, 20 or 30 % on it. A terminal server then costs €178.56, €170.43 or €162.31 per month. You can also find the prices for computing power, storage and operations in our price overview.
Net, plus VAT, as of October 2026. Prices per user rounded to the cent. Backup storage is added based on usage (€0.03687 per GB per month; for example, 100 GB costs €3.69). Microsoft Office and SQL Server are available on request. Setup and migration are not included in the monthly price; we list them separately in the quote.
Which licences you need
A terminal server requires two licences. You obtain both through us and pay for them monthly:
- Windows Server is licensed per 2 cores. For a terminal server with 12 vCPU, that means 6 licences. They are included in the server price.
- Remote Desktop Services is licensed per user, at €10.38 per month. Every person who works on the terminal server needs their own licence, even if not everyone is signed in at the same time. In return, the licence is valid on any number of devices.
Microsoft Office and SQL Server require their own usage rights. We will state the edition and price in your quote.

From your own terminal server to our data centre
Is your terminal server still running on Windows Server 2016? Extended support for Windows Server 2016 ends on 12 January 2027.
1. Assessment
We look at your applications, databases, interfaces, printers and users, and check whether the vendor of your industry software supports operation on a terminal server. We also agree which tasks remain with your team or IT service provider.
2. Setup and testing
We set up the new environment. Selected users test typical workflows with real data, including printing and scanning.
3. Switchover
The date, possible interruptions and a fallback plan are agreed in advance.
4. Operations
After acceptance, we take over the agreed operations. You have a personal contact.
