It assesses the information security management system as a whole – not individual measures, but the process behind them: risk analysis, effectiveness monitoring and continuous improvement.
Goes beyond the ISO standard alone: the BSI also checks the actual implementation in accordance with the IT-Grundschutz methodology (BSI Standard 200-2). This covers cloud, network, management, monitoring, logging, backup and administration systems. Annual surveillance audits are a prerequisite for maintaining certification.
The BSI’s C5 criteria catalogue is the German benchmark for cloud security. The audit focused on the system description of the service-related internal control system. ‘Unqualified’ means that the auditor did not express any reservations. Type 1 assesses the adequacy of the controls as at a specific date – not their effectiveness over a period of time, which would be Type 2.
