What makes a cloud provider a ‘German’ provider?

Three factors are crucial: the company’s registered office, the location of the data centres, and the question of who operates them. A German registered office alone is not enough – only when data is processed exclusively in Germany and the provider operates the data centres itself is the entire chain subject to German law. centron operates its own, redundantly configured data centre in Hallstadt near Bamberg.

How do German providers differ from AWS, Azure and Google Cloud?

Hyperscalers offer the widest range of features, but as US companies they are potentially subject to the CLOUD Act – even when using European data centres.
