Tech Trend #6: Wireless Value Realization

The term “wireless value realization” refers to a growing number of next-generation wireless protocols and technologies that provide value beyond just connectivity. Learn more about this tech trend and how you can address it in your business.

For the coming years, the U.S. research and consulting firm Gartner sees four priorities that companies can address with the help of various technology trends. On this basis, Gartner names and categorizes the 10 most important strategic technology trends for 2023 (centron reported).

As the sixth of these ten tech trends, we would like to introduce you to wireless value realization in this article. Gartner assigns this trend to the priority “scaling vertical solutions, product deliveries or in general”.

Wireless Value Realization

Gartner defines wireless value realization as the various ways in which “next-generation wireless technologies will soon deliver new and improved services and reduce capital costs.” Here are the benefits Gartner experts see when different wireless technologies work together in a single infrastructure:

  • Broad range of new contexts beyond simple connectivity (including location tracking, radar sensing, lower power consumption)
  • Improved developer experience and productivity through automated infrastructure operations & self-service capabilities
  • Unified network connectivity and security with migration capabilities
  • Reduced capital expenditure (more cost-effective, reliable and scalable technical requirements)

Accordingly, mobile communications could evolve from a communications technology to a broader digital innovation platform. Enterprises can adapt to this by increasingly using wireless technologies to provide connectivity, reliability and services.

According to Gartner’s forecast, the percentage of enterprises whose wireless devices use network services that go beyond communications is expected to increase from the current 15 percent to more than 50 percent by 2025.
