One Year as CEO – Interview with Dominik Seucan
In May 2025, Dominik Seucan took over as CEO of centron. He brings not only a great deal of motivation to the company, which has been around since the 1990s, but also a clear vision: to grow and be recognized as an established player in the German market. In this interview, we look back with him on his first year as CEO.
Dominik, thank you for taking the time. So, one full year as CEO. Give us a first impression: Did the year fly by, or was there so much going on that the past 12 months felt even longer?
Dominik Seucan: One kind of caused the other. The past 12 months flew by precisely because so much happened. And that was true in every area. As someone who had “only” been responsible for several individual departments before, it was naturally easier to continue developing some areas. But taking responsibility for the entire company, combined with the pace of the individual departments, made this year go by faster than any other.
We’ll let that answer slide… You’ve already mentioned quite a few things that happened. Did you have clear priorities for your first year, or did you want to take things as they came at first?
DS: Of course, I had thought about the direction in which I wanted to develop the company and where we should be heading in the future. It was important to me that we continue to be innovative while still setting standards. As it turned out, the plan seems to have worked. Taking things as they come? I’m afraid that’s just not the kind of person I am.
So you were already able to initiate or even achieve some of your goals?
DS: Yes, for example, our headcount has grown by 45%. We’re seeing new departments, new roles and new innovations emerge. All the momentum we have built over the past 12 months is now becoming visible.
What is the biggest lesson from your first year as CEO?
DS: Uff… I had to learn that the hard way. For too long, I tried to keep working the way I had before. That means jumping in wherever help was needed most. If I tried to do that now, too many things would not be completed on time. In other words: coordination and resource management.
Was there a challenge in your first year that surprised you because you hadn’t expected it in that way?
DS: Many. But the biggest one was probably the scaling challenges within the team. When everyone is busy onboarding a new colleague, there is simply no one left to take care of the daily business.
Give us a brief look into the future: What goal are you setting your sights on next?
DS: It is and remains the goal for all of us: to make cloud as simple as possible for everyone and, in doing so, to compete with the major players.
Thank you for the interview. We’re already excited to see what the coming months have in store for centron!
